Pastoral Council - is an advisory board, which meets the first Thursday of each month to discuss issues concerning the parish with the Pastor and makes recommendations to the Pastor.  Members of this group consist of elected members and appointed members from the parish community, plus members of the parish staff.

St. Joseph Board of Education- is an advisory board that meets the third Thursday of each month during the school year to discuss issues with the Principal and Pastor concerning our parish school: St. Joseph School.  This Board makes recommendations to the Principal and Pastor.  Members of this Board must either be members of St. Joseph Parish or have children in St. Joseph School. 

Cursillo Groups - are made up of people who have made a Cursillo weekend.  Each group sets their own day and time to get together. Check the bulletin or contact the parish office if interested in Cursillo meetings.

Bible Study Groups meet at various times throughout the year.  These groups are open to all who are interested. Please see the bulletin or contact the parish office to see what is currently going on.

Men's Group meets the second and fourth Sunday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the St. Hubert Meeting Room. This group is open to men of all ages. 

Home and School Association acts as a bridge between St. Joseph School parents and St. Joseph School. HSA organizes most of the school activities such as parties, socials, special events and field trips. One officer from HSA acts as a representative at the Board of Education meetings, and brings parental concerns to the attention of the Board.

Knights of Columbus Although Knights of Columbus is not a parish organization, we do have an active Council of the Knights of Columbus in Danville and most members are from St. Joseph Parish. The Knights participate in the parish in many organizations. They support our Parish School with a yearly donation. They sponsor a yearly Marian Poster contest for the children of the Parish, a First Holy Communion Breakfast, and a Thanksgiving Day Dinner for poor families and people who are shut-in or lonely for the holiday. The Knights of Columbus meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 P.M.

Parish Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay men and women who are trained and licensed by the Diocese of Harrisburg to assist the priests in the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass and to the sick outside of Mass. This ministry is open only to those invited by the Pastor after consultation with his advisors.

Parish Lectors are lay men and women who proclaim the Word of God at weekend and Holy Day Masses. We welcome volunteers to this ministry. However, only after satisfactory audition, will a volunteer be approved for this ministry.

Television Camera Operators are volunteers who are trained to operate the TV camera in the choir loft during liturgical celebration which are recorded for broadcast on Danville CATV, Channel 8, at 1:00 P.M. on Thursdays. This is a way for the parish to reach out the homebound and to guests at area nursing homes and hospitals.

Altar Serving is open to all boys and girls from fifth through twelfth grade. We invite our youth to learn more about the Mass and deepen their love for Jesus in the Eucharist. Altar servers give a needed service and dignity to our celebration of the Liturgy.

Ministers of Hospitality are volunteers who greet and assist those who arrive a weekend Masses and other liturgies. They also provide information to new parishioners, assist the handicapped, provide directions to restrooms, phone and in general, try to assure an atmosphere of order and hospitality to liturgical celebrations. They also take up the collection at weekend and Holy Day Masses. We invite parishioners in good standing to join in this ministry. Entire families are welcome to participate in this ministry.

Parish Bus Drivers for our parish bus do not need a special license. The bus picks up parishioners who might not otherwise be able to get to Mass and transports them to and from their home for the 5:00 P.M. Mass and Holy Days of Obligation. An individual usually only drives about once every six weeks.

Choirs- St. Joseph has three Choirs; Parish Choir, Youth Choir and Bell Choir. Parish Choir is made up of adults and children from the parish and sings at one Mass each weekend, except during the summer months. Members of the choir are also selected to participate as Psalmists and Cantors to lead the congregation during Mass. Youth Choir is for all boys and girls in grades four through eight. They sing at selected weekend Masses. Bell choir usually plays at the 8:30 A.M. Mass and some Holy Day Masses. Instrumentalists are invited to share their talent at Sunday liturgies and other Liturgical celebrations throughout the year. All of the choirs are under the supervision of the Director of Liturgical Music. Any parishioner is welcome to join.

Altar Care Ministry or Altar Angels is a quiet ministry, which operates behind the scenes. They are the ones who see that the holy water fonts are clean and fresh, the altar and sanctuary are dusted and vacuumed, and that altar linens and candles are cleaned and updated. Altar Angels meet each Friday at 9:00 A.M. in the Sacristy.

Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts- Please call the parish office for contact information and meeting times.

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the parish library. Shawls and lap blankets are made and blessed and given to those who are sick or in need of prayers. Shawls can be requested by family or community members who know of someone in need.

Peace and Social Justice Committee meets the third Monday of the month. This committee helps different organizations in the community and holds a Chocolate Egg sale during Lent to raise money for different mission work in the parish.

Catholic Heart Workcamp is a mission team of high school students, young adults and chaperones who travels for one week each summer to a different location to help rebuild, and reconstruct homes and schools in impoverished areas of the US and for the elderly and/or handicapped.

Rosary Group- One individual leads the rosary before each weekend Mass.

Catholic Singles Group is for single Catholic adults age 30-59. They host different social events, game nights, bible studies and outings. Please see the bulletin, see the link on our website or call the parish office for more information or their meeting schedule.

CYO Basketball-Grade school age youth are eligible to join various levels of our boys’ and girls’ basketball program. This program is open to participants from both the School and Religious Education Programs.

CYO Cheerleaders are sponsored by St. Joseph School. Cheerleaders serve in coordination with the basketball teams and often compete in tournaments for cheerleading.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process by which a person becomes Catholic. Classes are to learn more about the Catholic faith. No one is obligated to become Catholic by attending this program. There are weekly classes with teaching and discussions. There are various rites and public ceremonies in the Church throughout the process. Please contact the parish office for more information.

Religious Education Classes Grades K-8 meet on Sunday evenings from 6:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M., in the school. The program is directed by Deacon Tom Conlin, CRE and is taught by parish volunteer teachers, assisted by Diocesan training.

The St. Joseph Funeral Luncheon Committee is a group of parishioners who plan and serve a luncheon for families who request one after the funeral at St. Joseph Church. The program is financed by donations received form the families who are served by the program, and from parishioners interested in this ministry of aiding families in their time of grief. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.

Charismatic Prayer Group meets every Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in the parish library. Parishioners, families and other intentions are remembered through prayer and song. All are welcome to join.
